Tidbit: Do you know the best way to keep these escape artists from taking off on you? Many new keepers loose snakes to escape because they don't use the proper containers. New keepers like to use tanks with wire screens and clips or worse yet you may even put some weight in the middle of the screen. The problem here is that your snake will wedge between the inside lip of your tank and the screen creating leverage to push out. You can stop this by cutting out this inner edge of your aquarium (carefully of course) and sand it down flat. Better yet use rubber maid containers that are lighter, easier to clean and have clips on most lids. Just remember to make holes all around your container for air flow. (use a solder iron to make the holes and you won crack the plastic container)
